How to open an .EML file

Sometimes I get clients who send me files through as an .EML file instead of the attachments, which poses a problem for me since I don’t use Microsoft Outlook or Windows Live Mail.

.EML is basically an e-mail message saved by Microsoft Outlook or other e-mail programs and may also contain an e-mail attachment, or any files sent with the message.

Fortunately .EML files are formatted the same as .MHT files.

How to open an .EML file

Changing the file extension from “.eml” to “.mht” should cause the file to open directly in Internet Explorer. EML files may also be opened within Internet Explorer using the Microsoft Exchange Server Outlook WebAccess client.
